Cancer Free!!

Last week we recieved the best news ever! After the (hopefully) last time of dropping Bentley off at the hospital for a whole day they let us know his chest and abdomen all look good and no evidence of any cancer cells!!! It has been such a long road but to think in only 6 months after his amputation with 8 rounds of CCNU chemo he is now cancer free!!! The Doctor of course said its not necessarily permanent for now which is scary but I’m not even thinking it will come back. Once again he had histiocytic sarcoma which is a very aggressive cancer. I can’t thank this site enough for everyone’s support throughout our journey and we will continue to keep you updated with the good and bad. Thank you!!

Last Chemo

imageHi all! It’s so hard to remember to post when things are going so well. Bentley is doing absolutely GREAT! He had hi let chemo on September 22!!!! I can’t believe he went through 8 rounds already. In three weeks he gets re screened and I can’t help but think he is going to be cancer free. The other day he made it on a 3 mile wak and didn’t even lie down once! I can’t believe how far he has come being a tripawd. It makes me feel silly for worrying so much when they told me they had to remove his leg. I am so grateful to this website though for helping us get through everything. Everyone on here is a miracle. Hopefully I will have more good news to relay after his re screening.

Not Cancer

imageSorry for the delay in Bentley’s update, but we got the results back from his recent biopsy and it was NOT CANCER! Even though it looked like his first tumor this one was apparently some type of inflammation or fungus. This means his chemo is working and the cancer is not spreading. I am beyond happy that he still has a fighting chance to beat this histiocystic sarcoma! He has however been a bit more tired lately, which worries me a bit but we are taking it easy with less walks and more cuddles.

A new lump

Hi everyone! I will most likely post another post in the forums for some more advice, but I have some upsetting “news”. Nothing is definite yet, but there is another lump on Bentley’s remaining back leg close to the spot of the last tumor on his amputated leg and it’s starting to look like the first tumor as well. We got a cytology done and it came back inconclusive (of course) so we have an appointment with the surgeon on Thursday to decide to remove it or just take biopsy. It’s still small, but is growing everyday. I really hope it’s not another tumor because he has been doig chemo and i wouldn’t want that to have just been a waste. He is so happy though it’s hard to believe anything is wrong with him. He has a better life than me I think- gets homemade meals, goes swimming, gets accupuncture, and lots of love from everyone he passes on the street. I got through one tumor before with the help of this wonderful tripawd community so I know I can do it again. Nothing we can do now until Thursday but at least I’ll get some peace of mind finally knowing what it is. Jungle
